A lot of companies would give anything to have a revenue growth figure like
Dancin’ Dogg Golf has had in the past few years. How does 951 percent growth since 2007 sound? Unbelievably good, right?
That’s one of the reasons the Traverse City-based golf products company landed in the
top 500 of fast-growing U.S. companies recently listed by Inc. Magazine for 2011. Dancin’ Dogg was ranked No. 358 on that list, and is one of five companies in Michigan to make it.
Dancin’ Dogg makes the OptiShot Infrared Simulator, an in-home virtual golf system that appeals to amateur and pro golfers for both recreation and training--and has hit it big in countries like Iceland where there are plenty of golfers, but not very many golf courses; or, long winters during which outdoors golf just isn’t going to happen. According to the magazine, the company next has its eye on South Korea, where the market for growth is good.
"It’s long been our goal to achieve the kind of success that justifies ranking among the Inc. 500," says Brandon Theophilus, CEO of Dancin’ Dogg Golf. "This recognition is a tremendous achievement and testament to the fully immersive, virtual golfing experience provided by OptiShot."
Dancin’ Dogg was founded in 2005 and focuses on new golf technologies. It was also ranked as No. 24 in the magazine’s Consumer Products and Services category of the listings, which are restricted to U.S. privately held, for-profit, independent companies.
Its 2010 revenue figure was $2.2 million, compared to a 2007 revenue of $205,940. It employs eight people, five of which have been added since 2007.
