The Edward Lowe Foundation and the Michigan Celebrates Small Business program recently announced that Traverse City's own Comfort Keepers has been recognized as one of the 2011 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch.
Comfort Keepers will be honored at an awards ceremony during the seventh annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on April 28 in Lansing.
Comfort Keepers, owned locally by Russ and Leslie Knopp, provides in-home care services to seniors and disabled adults. Services include meal preparation, light housekeeping and cleaning, transportation to appointments and other activities, personal care like bathing, dressing and feeding, medication reminders and more.
"It's the passion and dedication of our employees that makes our company great," says Russ Knopp. "They work very hard, advocate for a number of senior causes and love helping others in the northern Michigan community. We're honored to accept this award and share it with our entire staff."
Companies on the watch list are considered "second-stage" companies with six to 99 full-time employees and generating $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital. Winners were selected by Michigan-based judges from the banking, economic development, entrepreneurship development and venture capital communities.
