Caberfae Peaks in Cadillac has been honored as a local business that’s great at what it does, which should be no surprise to Michigan skiers and golfers.
The ski and golf resort received the first Recreation Excellence Award given by the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau at its annual meeting. The awards honor businesses who have supported Michigan tourism.
The resort's history is long, having been founded in 1937, when it was created from a cattle farm. In the 1950s, it rose to fame for having two of the best skiing peaks in the Midwest. The current owners, the Meyer family, have owned it since 1982.
Pete, Alli, Tim and Mandy Meyer accepted the award for Caberfae Peaks.
"This is a great honor. When we see multiple generations coming out to ski together, that is truly why we work hard every day at Caberfae. It’s a great family sport and a sport we love," says Pete Meyer.
Other awards went to area volunteers and organizations which provide recreational support.
