Traverse City's
Northwestern Michigan College calls today's event a "public listening session." That means if you have a brilliant idea about how the college can grow, prosper and thrive in the coming years, sign up below, then head to the Oleson Center on the main campus from 3-5 p.m. and let your thoughts be known.
The free event, one of several planned, offers direct discourse with NMC President Timothy J. Nelson and the board of trustees, all hoping to map out the region's future educational needs with your input. "The ideas shared will be central to helping NMC better serve residents, businesses and the region," says Nelson, who will provide an overview of the college's current strategic plan, then open up the floor to brainstorming.
Two vital areas need your input -- success in a global society and economy, and success in an increasingly entrepreneurial and innovative economy.
Founded in 1951, NMC is a publicly funded community college with more than 50,000 students. NMC's University Center is the largest higher-education partnership in Michigan -- 10 partner universities that have granted 2,000 degrees since 1995. It's also home to the Dennos Museum Center, Hagerty Conference Center, Lobdell's a Teaching Restaurant, Rogers Observatory and WNMC Radio.
