Walloon Lake sees construction of new businesses

The village of Walloon Lake is seeing some big changes thanks to some work being done there.

Walloon Lake will be home to a marina, a restaurant, a boat showroom and a service center as summer rolls around if everything goes according to plan. In total, there are expected to be approximately 80 new jobs coming to the town.

The businesses, which are owned by Matt Borisch, will include a boat dealership (currently available to visit via appointment) and a marina and restaurant, which are expected to be open around Memorial Day.

The restaurant, which will be called Barrel Back after the boat chair, will be able to seat 150 people and will be open all year, including five days a week in the winter months and all week in the summer. The restaurant alone will employ over three dozen. DJ Flynn, who attended culinary school in Grand Rapids and was most recently the executive chef at Bay Harbor Yacht Club, has been named as the executive chef of the restaurant.
