A Community Block Development Grant has been approved for a condo and mixed-use development in Traverse City.
The $880,000 grant comes from the
Michigan Strategic Fund, is administered through Grand Traverse County, and is marked for remediation of environmentally contamintated properties that are part of the Uptown Development TC, LLC multi-story condominium and mixed-use business and residential units.
The funding will pay for site demolition, lead and asbestos abatement, clearing and soil amendment, and new fill placement.
It's accompanied by an investment from the County of Grand Traverse Brownfield Redevelopment Authority of about $1.9 million. That will go toward geotechnical engineering, land balancing, relocation of utilities and surrounding infrastructure improvements.
The project will create about 12 full-time jobs in the mixed-use units and offer a new condo alternative in Traverse City.
