Team Elmer's will be acquiring some new staff and resources, in the form of the trucking company's purchase of Mohawk Transport from Morley.
Team Elmer's co-owners Troy and Todd Broad and Tonya Wildfong announced the purchase this week, and say that the Mohawk name, brand and operations all will be transitioning to Team Elmer's in the coming weeks.
Mohawk Transport, a family-owned trucking business, mainly hauls lime, chip seal stone, aggregates, gravel, sand and stone for agricultural, commercial and contractor clients. Its trucks and drivers will be essential to Team Elmer's plans for expansion and growth, which include longer-haul trucking jobs, and statewide destinations.
"In these challenging times, we're fortunate to be able to forge partnerships like this one. We're bringing on a great group of people, customers, equipment, and services," says Troy Broad of the acquisition.
Mohawk's owner, James Carey, will become transportation services manager for Team Elmer's Michigan operations, from a location in Big Rapids, which will serve the northern lower Michigan region.
Team Elmer's has been based in Traverse City since 1956 and specializes in construction site development. It has almost 300 employees.
