Short's Brewery announces expansion in Elk Rapids

This really comes as no surprise, given the immense popularity of Short's Brewing Company products throughout Michigan and beyond, but the company announced that it will be undergoing an expansion of their Elk Rapids production brewery.

The expansion, which will come with a price tag of approximately $5 million, will include a new state-of-the-art custom-designed bottle filler and packaging line, as well as the installation of a wastewater pre-treatment system. Additionally, the company will be purchasing the property next to its location, which means there will be even more room for the company to grow in the coming years.

"This expansion is the ideal situation for the production side of Short’s in the upcoming years," says operations manager Tyler Glaze. "It’ll open up so many more options for what we’re able to do to keep up with Michigan-driven demand. At the same time, it will allow us to get even more creative in our brewing, enhance the quality of the product we’re distributing, and stay in the Elk Rapids community that many Short’s employees call home."

In addition to the expansion, Short's will also be upgrading quite a bit of its equipment in the process.

The new bottle filling system will fill 150 bottles per minutes, which is a whopping 300-percent increase in production over the current filler (that means a whole lot more happy beer enthusiasts!).
