Petoskey-based Rotate Black moving forward with Mississippi casino

Petoskey-based Rotate Black, a development and management company of resort and casino properties, announced recently that it has executed long-term ground leases in Gulfport, Miss., on more than 9.5 acres to develop its permanent land-based gaming, hotel and entertainment property.

The location, adjacent to the Bert Jones Yacht Basin in Gulfport.

"We believe that obtaining control of the gaming site in Gulfport is another significant step on our path to opening a casino and hotel in 2011," says Dual Cooper, president of Rotate Black.

Rotate Black also recently purchased a 50,000 square-foot gaming vessel out of bankruptcy for less than 15 percent of replacement cost and expect it to be moved to the Bert Jones Yacht Basin early next year after completion of all maintenance work.

In addition, they announced the hiring of Jake Vanderlei as the president of general manager of the eventual casino and hotel.

"I look forward to meeting with the Mississippi Gaming Commission as we work through site approval and authority to proceed," says Cooper.
