R&R's Cabin opens for dining business

We here at Northwest Michigan Second Wave believe that the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach, which is why we are celebrating Valentine's Day this week by falling in love with the new R&R's Cabin in Alanson.

The newly-opened restaurant, which is at 7529 Burr Ave., is owned by Ruth Barnadyn and Randy Cole.

The restaurant brings plenty of homemade items to the table (no boxed pancake batter here, and no canned soups!), and they have a nice variety of jams that are made in their kitchens from berries grown right here in the local region.

They haven't exactly become known for a single item on the menu yet because so many of them are really that good. Take, for example, their Rueben, which is an absolute must-have for fans of the sandwich. They also make a sandwich called the Hillside, which features grilled cheese, onions, tomato, bacon and mozzarella sticks--and, no, that wasn't a typo.

The restaurant is open Saturday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. and into the dinner hours on Friday with an all-you-can-eat fish fry starting at 4 p.m. as well as an ever-changing offering of dinner specials.
