Northwestern Michigan College is on a bit of a roll these days.
The institute, located in Traverse City, broke a record this month as they officially enrolled more students for the spring semester than has ever been enrolled there before. Enrollment for this spring is 5,194--that's a two-percent increase over last year at this time. Enrollment in the spring has swelled 20 percent over the past three years.
Setting this record is starting to be old hat for the college, which has now broke enrollment records every semester since the fall semester in 2008.
And that's not the only growth being seen at Northwestern Michigan College. The school's Campaign for Scholarships and Programs recently announced that it has raised more than $400,000 so far, with the fund raising continuing through June 30. That amount is the largest goal in the campaign's history.
"Because the need for aid continues to increase, we know our work is not done," says Paul Maurer, co-chair for the Campaign for Scholarships and Programs. He also says the number of financial aid applications has gone up more than one-third in the last two years.
Maurer says that, because of the increased need, the annual Campaign for Scholarships and Programs will continue through June 30. People can give
