Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association's energy fair to be held in Ludington

A major sustainable energy expo is coming to Ludington this year, to be hosted at the Mason County Fairgrounds.

The sixth annual Michigan Energy Fair will be held from June 24 to 26, 2011in Ludington, according to an announcement from the Great Lake Renewable Energy Association.

The energy fair has been a huge event in years past; it's previously been held at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi and the Manistee County Fairgrounds, drawing about 6,000 attendees and 150 exhibitors.

The fair also includes more than 75 seminars and national keynote speakers, in its role as the leading renewable energy and energy efficiency conference in the state. Ludington can expect to see new energy technologies, sustainable products, and applications for renewable energy all explored at the fair.

Along with exhibitors and energy industry leaders, plenty of small businesses, state and local governments, educators and landowners will find the fair valuable, as it's a chance to get the most current information on energy issues, as well as the information most applicable to Michigan. Some of the seminars include controlling energy costs, windmill siting, climate change, tax credits, and green building.

Local energy innovations also will be showcased, including tours of the Ludington Pump Storage Facility.

The fair is also family-friendly, with Saturday featuring a special area for kid-level activities and workshops.

Sponsors for the event include the Western Michigan Fair Association, DTE Energy, Consumers Energy, Mason County Growth Alliance, Ludington and Scottville Chamber of Commerce and the Ludington Convention and Visitors Bureau, and West Shore Community College.
