Just in time for summer, Charlevoix has a new brewpub and craft brewery opening its doors downtown.
The
Lake Charlevoix Brewing Company is now open at 111 Bridge Park Drive (next to the Keweenaw Star and Beaver Island Boat Company) overlooking Round Lake.
The pub is 1,200 square feet with 60 indoor seats and 50 in an outdoor beer garden. The brewery is running a five-barrel made-in-Michigan system purchased from Psycho Brew in Greenville
It's a new endeavor from Rich Bergmann, Adam Engelman, Aaron Hagen and Phil Parr, the founders and owners of its other neighbor, the Bridge Street Tap Room, which just opened last summer.
"It was extremely important for us to make our investment in a company that is rooted in Michigan and utilizes American-made stainless steel," says Bergmann. "Equipment of this caliber helps us to brew beer of the utmost quality."
To start, the brewers (Parr, Evan Keller and Tanner DePriest) are hitting the summer season with all cylinders, rolling out a grapefruit saison called Lake Charlevoix Sunrise, in collaboration with Our Brewing in Holland. A variety of beer styles and collaborations with other brewers are also on tap.
The pub menu (because we know you want to know) also includes wine, spirits, grilled panini sandwiches, wraps, shrimp cocktail, tacos, quesadillas and nachos. Live entertainment is planned in the beer garden three nights a week.
