Airport offers early peek at new terminal

The new terminal at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport offers airlines an incentive to come to this area since they are looking for places where customers will have a positive experience.

An estimated 5,000 people came to get a peek at what’s new at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport.

The $39 million terminal, built on time and under budget, features work by local artists that are shown to advantage in the natural light of the new building.

The two-story, 92,000-square-foot facility was built with recycled materials whenever possible.

Airport officials say the new terminal was built not only with the convenience and comfort of passengers in mind, but the needs of airlines in hopes of attracting more in the future.

The terminal will open April 27.
