Saginaw Valley State University announced it has named a new associate vice president, John Decker.
Decker also will serve as general legal counsel to the university. He comes to SVSU from the law firm of Braun Kendrick, where he had worked as an attorney for 34 years, and had been a managing partner for the last 12 years.
He has worked with the university in the past, serving as outside general counsel and representing SVSU on various legal proceedings. He also has been on the SVSU Foundation Board of Directors since 2002.
"We conducted a national search and determined that John's impressive legal experience and long-term commitment to SVSU made him an ideal candidate for this role," says Jim Muladore, SVSU executive vice president for administration and business affairs.
Decker's new duties will include overseeing the university's police and human resources departments.
