SVSU names new director of admissions

Jim Dwyer will be the new executive director of alumni relations at Saginaw Valley State University, according to a recent announcement.

Dwyer stepped into his new job duties in late February, which include engaging alumni to return to campus, help recruit new students and connect with current students, and support alumni of the school.

The position is new for SVSU, but Dwyer has the experience to fill the role; he previously was associate provost for enrollment management, and before that was director of international programs, and had been director of admissions for 22 years.

"For thousands of our graduates, Jim was their first point of contact here. His ability to relate to people and his extraordinary enthusiasm for SVSU--the same traits that made him so effective recruiting students--will serve him well in this new assignment, one that is critical to our long-term success," says SVSU President Donald Bachand, to whom Dwyer will report directly.
