AAA released a list of its top-rated hotel and restaurant properties in Michigan for 2012, and the
Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant is on it.
The casino and resort earned
AAA Michigan's Four-Diamond Award, which recognizes excellence in the hospitality industry. It's the 14th year in a row the resort has received the award, one of the longest-running awards in the state.
In 2012, it was one of a total of 14 hotels and six restaurants earning the four-diamond rating in the state, which is pretty good considering the number of outstanding hotels and restaurants Michigan can boast of.
Six of the chosen were in the Detroit area: they were the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth; The Westin Book Cadillac; the MotorCity Casino Hotel and its restaurant, Iridescence; and the MGM Grand and its restaurant, Saltwater.
The other hotels were the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham; the Dearborn Inn and the Henry Hotel Autograph Collection in Dearborn; the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and JW Marriott Hotel in Grand Rapids; The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island; the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester; the Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport; and the Westin Southfield.
The other restaurants awarded four diamonds were the Rugby Grill in Birmingham; the Café Cortina in Farmington Hills; Cygnus in Grand Rapids, and The Lark in West Bloomfield.
All the award recipients will be honored at a lunch in Grand Rapids in March during the Pure Michigan Governor's Conference on Tourism 2012.
