The community of Saginaw received a pretty high ranking in Site Selection Magazine for top metropolitan areas, a testament to the number of new projects in the city in the past year.
The magazine announced its annual rankings in each state for new and expanded facilities in four population categories: more than 1 million, 200,000 to 1 million, less than 200,000, and from 10,000 to 50,000.
Saginaw County was in the under 200,000 population category, as a metropolitan area, and ranked seventh in the U.S. with nine new and expanded projects. The projects had to qualify based on number of jobs, square footage and investment. Michigan ranked fourth overall on the magazine's list, with 337 projects.
"To be recognized as a Top 10 Metropolitan Area for growth reflects the innovative and growing companies that are key economic partners in Saginaw and the Region," says JoAnn Crary, president of
Saginaw Future Inc. "Saginaw's ranking along with the State of Michigan's fourth place among the fifty states demonstrates that we have all the assets businesses need to grow and be profitable."
