Mount Pleasant's Prism Analytical Technologies, Inc. announced this week it has closed on a major round of financing.
Prism is a national air testing laboratory focusing on chemical identification and air contaminants, and also has a consumer product for indoor air quality testing, called
Home Air Check.
The terms and amount of financing weren't disclosed, but Prism co-founder and CEO Lester Keepper says the capital will be used to expand sales, marketing, customer support and product development for Home Air Check.
The investment comes from members of the Chicago exchange community, and also includes support from the Mount Pleasant business community.
"Achieving this funding allows us the tremendous opportunity to bring our advanced yet affordable air testing technology to the home market," Keepper says. "Our goal is to provide an economical way for every homeowner, tenant, and home buyer to assess the level of harmful chemicals in their home air and to know the source of that contamination."
Part of the investment also will go toward consumer education, as Prism plans to promote both the importance of healthy air at home, and draw attention to the Home Air Check as an easy first step on the road to improving indoor air quality.
