Mt. Pleasant hires new communications director, city manager

The City of Mount Pleasant announced it has hired a new communications director, as well as named a city manager.

Tracy Burton, the new communications director, is most recently a professor of journalism at Central Michigan University, or might be familiar to mid-Michigan residents as an occasional writer for the Midland Daily News. Her background also includes five years working in public relations for CMU, and a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in English communication, both from CMU.

Nancy Ridley was also hired as city manager for Mount Pleasant. She has worked for the City of Mount Pleasant for 16 years, including her most recent position as director of administrative and financial services, and prior to that, was director of finance for the city. Like Burton, she came to the city from CMU, where she served in several administrative roles. She earned a bachelor's degree from CMU in business administration, as well as a master's degree in business administration from CMU.

Ridley had been serving as interim city manager since December, and Burton had been serving as interim communications director since May.
