The
Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center is well known for helping small businesses throughout the state, but it's always nice to know that they are quick to recognize the people in their organization who help make that a reality.
The MI-SBTDC recently announced its choice for the outstanding business counselor of the year, and it it just so happened to be Mid Michigan SBTDC's Marie Elliott.
Elliott's efforts in 2011 helped companies obtain more than $3.1 million in capital formation that supported the creation of 51 new jobs and retaining eight jobs. Additionally, she helped eight companies start up and begin earning revenue.
Each year the MI-SBTDC's statewide network recognizes one business consultant whose efforts have resulted in the betterment of the entire program and the people it serves. Elliott's collective contributions supporting small business growth in the area made her an ideal selection.
Elliott originally joined the Mid Michigan SBTDC in 2002, serving as regional director. In 2005, she was hired as director of human resources at Mid Michigan Community College. Elliott returned to the Mid Michigan SBTDC as a business consultant in 2008.
