During a recent conference, the quality of health care in Gladwin was recognized, as the
MidMichigan Medical Center was given the Michigan Rural Health Quality Improvement Award.
The award was given at the Michigan Critical Access Hospital Conference held in Boyne Falls, and acknowledges the Gladwin center's efforts toward quality improvement on inpatient clinical performance for the care and treatment of pneumonia.
The Michigan Center for Rural Health sponsors the award, which is given to recipients who show a commitment to provide their patients with high-quality health care.
Janet Foor, vice president of MidMichigan Medical Center in Gladwin, says it also reflects the dedication of the center's staff.
"Together our staff is demonstrating we are providing the very best in medical care," says Foor. "The Medical Center is committed to the tenets of quality improvement that embrace evidence-based medicine to improve health outcomes."
The criteria for the award included a standardized scoring measuring patient care called the Appropriate Care Measure. The award required a score between 78 and 94 percent, and the Gladwin center scored 90 percent.
The Michigan Center for Rural Health is a non-profit organization formed in 1991 to recognize the importance of rural health care and direct resources to rural health care.
