Overall, the council approved 312 grants totaling $5.7 million across the state, out of 401 applications. The grants fund organizations with a total of more than 10,000 employees and more than 54,000 Michigan artists. About 50 million people will attend programs or exhibits by the organizations this year, according to the council.
