The
Michigan Corn Growers Association recently announced five of its members have been appointed to national teams and committees on corn growing, and among them is a Midland farmer.
The National Corn Growers Association appointed three Michigan growers to its ethanol committee, which works to promote, market and develop policy for the U.S. ethanol industry.
"The NCGA and the MCGA are both grassroots organizations, so it is vital to have active involvement by grower members," says Jody Pollok-Newsom, MCGA executive director. "As one of 28 active corn growing states, we are very excited to have five representatives appointed to national level positions."
Midland's Clark Gerstacker, who is also on the association's Corn Board, will be that board's liaison to the ethanol committee. His other industry credentials include the presidency of the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan.
Other Michigan farmers were appointed to the bylaws committee and the trade policy and biotechnology action team of the national association.
"It is a positive reflection on not only these growers, but on Michigan as a whole, when our corn farmers and staff are recognized and asked for their leadership in national activities," says Pollok-Newsom. "These growers are truly leaders in both Michigan's and the United State's corn industries."
