Two new physicians are joining the McLaren Health systems, both in Mt. Pleasant.
McLaren Bay Region's facilities in Mt. Pleasant will add interventional radiologist Dr. Rami Safadi to its staff. He will focus on providing minimally invasive treatment options for cardiovascular patients, working with the diagnostic and cardiovascular departments.
He is board-certified in diagnostic and vascular radiology, and has been practicing for almost 20 years. Safadi specializes in angioplasty, endovascular treatment of aneurysms, radiofrequency ablation for cancer, stent placement and venous disease treatment, among other things.
Safadi previously was at McLaren's Bay City location, where he will maintain a secondary office in the diagnostic imaging department. His Mt. Pleasant office is located at the Heart and Vascular center on South Drive.
McLaren Central Michigan also announced Dr. Henry Szelag, a board-certified family practitioner, will join its medical staff, coming from his practice at the Weidman Area Health Center.
Szelag has been seeing patients of all ages for about 25 years, and is a former chief of staff for Central Michigan Community Hospital before McLaren bought it. His office on North Woodruff Road in Weidman will remain open, where he and physician assistant Lacey Gardner both will continue to see patients.
