Yeo & Yeo offices participate in Global Volunteer Week

It’s one thing for a single office to volunteer to help make their communities a better place to live, and it’s entirely different when an entire international professional association decides to do it.

The Young Professionals Special Interest Group of the Leading Edge Alliance, the second-largest association of independently-owned accounting and consulting firms, kicked off its first-ever Global Volunteer Week recently. Member firms from all over the world, including Mid Michigan-based Yeo & Yeo, chose to donate to and volunteer their time to benefit local charities.

"The support received from our young professionals throughout our office areas exemplifies how much Yeo & Yeo employees truly care about their communities," says Jamie Rivette, CPA, senior manager in Yeo & Yeo’s Flint office.

At its headquarters in Saginaw, Yeo & Yeo was a pacesetter organization for the 2011 United Way of Saginaw County campaign, running its internal campaign early and setting the tone for other companies. Yeo & Yeo achieved 100-percent employee participation with all 104 employees of Yeo & Yeo CPAs, Yeo & Yeo Computer Consulting and Affiliated Medical Billing donating to the United Way.

Staff in Yeo & Yeo’s Flint, Lansing and Alma offices ran backpack drives the week of Aug. 1. Flint staff provided games and fully stocked backpacks to the Whaley Children’s Center. Lansing’s office donated 45 filled backpacks to the Lansing City Rescue Mission. Alma’s staff joined forces with the Exchange Club of Gratiot County and other community service organizations to collect socks and school supplies for a Back to School Fair for families in need.

Midland office staff teamed up with Midland County Habitat for Humanity on August 5-6, assisting with painting projects on homes in the area for the Neighborhood Revitalization Project.

Staff in Yeo & Yeo’s Kalamazoo office teamed up with Ministry with Community, taking up a collection for personal items and food, and serving lunch on Aug. 3.
