What James J. Collins does for
Exponent Inc. isn't rocket science -- but it is occupational and environmental epidemiology (let's be honest -- that sounds harder than rocket science).
Collins has recently been named a principal scientist in Exponent's Health Sciences Center for Epidemiology and Computational Biology. He's plenty qualified for the position, bringing with him more than 44 years of experience in industry and government designing, managing and conducting studies.
During his career, he has pretty much done it all. He has done substance specific reviews, studies, review papers, worked with government agencies and communicated study results to study subjects, the scientific community and regulators.
Collins most recently served as executive in residence for Saginaw Valley State University's School of Health Science and before that was the director of epidemiology at Dow Chemical Co.
