Duro-Last Roofing gets even more sustainable

Duro-Last Roofing, Inc., which has its corporate headquarters in Saginaw, is in an industry that has been working hard to create more sustainable options for its clientele.

It’s an effort that Duro-Last has taken seriously, even earning Corp! Magazine’s "Going Green" honors and was given the Oregon Governor’s Sustainability Award for its commitment to sustainable business practices. The company even completed an energy-efficient lighting program by replacing its lighting fixtures at the Saginaw headquarters with efficient ones.

Most recently, Duro-Last has started using environmentally preferable cleaning products and break room supplies by joining the Staples Advantage program. Staples has developed alternatives to conventional paper and plastic cups, plates, bowls, cutlery and cleaning supplies.

The Sustainable Earth by Staples products are environmentally preferable and meet rigorous environmental standards. They are made from renewable resources, recycled and/or compostable materials, and are recognized by third parties such as EPA DfE, Green Seal and BPI.

"We are an environmentally conscious organization. We recycle manufacturing scrap, and also have a ‘recycle your roof’ program that recycles old Duro-Last roofs," says facilities director, Chris Couitcher. "We are excited about our new partnership with Staples. This will add to our commitment to reduce the company’s environmental impact."

All Duro-Last locations will be using the new program.
