Central Michigan University's new College of Medicine gets ready for this fall, the college got some very good news -- it's been accredited for its residency programs.
The Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education granted the accreditation, which lasts for five years. It covers the college's residency programs, which is part of a medical education after graduation from medical school, during which new doctors study clinically or in a specialty, to prepare for independent practice.
"We are very excited to receive this accreditation and proud to be a leader among residency programs in being granted full five-year accreditation status without any reservations," says Ernie Yoder, dean of the college of medicine.
The college will welcome its first class of 60 students this summer.
