Central Michigan University's Moore Hall Television has been recognized for the tenth year in a row with a statewide award for excellence.
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters' College Television Station of the Year was given to the CMU TV station for 2011, again. The award is earned through cumulative points in the association's college broadcasting competition in several categories.
The award means CMU students racked up the points on quite a few fronts, including taking top spots in the categories of daily newscast, talk show, public service announcement and sports play-by-play broadcast.
Moore Hall Television is CMU's student-run television station, and produces a range of programming including News Central 34, an hour-long nightly newscast. It's among the most recognized college stations in the state.
"Over the last several years, our students have won dozens of state, regional and national awards in both student and professional competitions," says Peter Orlik, chairman of the School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts at CMU. "One of the most notable is the MAB Station of the Year award because it allows our students to see how they compete with their peers from across the state."
