Ever wonder how great your local hospital really is when compared to those across the country? Well, wonder no more.
Central Michigan Community Hospital was named one of the nation's 100 best by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information, in the small hospital's category.
"The employees, physicians and volunteers of CMCH deserve credit for this honor. These individuals are dedicated to providing the best health care possible to our patients," says Bill Lawrence, CMCH president and CEO.
CMCH was evaluated by Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals study in 10 areas: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; post-discharge mortality; and readmission rates for heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia.
The study has been conducted annually since 1993, the year Central Michigan Community Hospital received its first honor. The hospital also received this award in 2009.
CMCH was selected from nearly 3,000 different national hospitals as an example for other organizations to follow in the healthcare industry. The winning hospitals were announced in the March 28 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
"In the midst of one of our strongest years ever, our hospital continues to grow through quality care and medical advancements. CMCH's future is bright as our commitment to our patients and the community remains our number one focus," says Lawrence.
