Bay Future names new director for EDC

Bay County's economic development corporation, Bay Future, has a new leader at the helm.

The EDC's board of directors conducted a national search for a new president and CEO for Bay Future, and chose Mark Litten, of Huron, Ohio.

Litten comes to the role from the Erie County Economic Development Corporation in Ohio, where he was most recently an economic development executive. He has several decades of experience in business and administration. Litten earned a bachelor's degree at Mount Union College in Ohio and a master's of science in administration from the University of Dayton.

Bay Future board chair Jeff Mayes says Litten's depth of experience and track record of success made him a desirable candidate for the job. During his time in Erie County, the EDC attracted a $200 million investment from Kalahari Resort & Convention Center, adding more than 1,500 new jobs, and Litten led a successful five-year capital campaign that ultimately resulted in the group being named a top 10 EDC in Site Selection magazine.

"His twenty plus years of experience, his ability to attract and retain business, and his ability to facilitate collaboration, were all major factors in the board approving his appointment to the position," Mayes says.

Litten started his new job in January and says Bay County has been welcoming.
