CMU dean wins top athletic trainer award in nation

A dean at Central Michigan University is being recognized for his leadership in his field. Christopher Ingersoll is dean of CMU's Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, and he has received the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award.

The award is given to members of the association who demonstrate commitment to leadership, volunteering, advocacy and professional activities as an athletic trainer, and who have been involved in both area and national service and leadership.

"Chris and I have been colleagues for more than 25 years, and no one is more deserving to receive a NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award," says Marjorie J. Albohm, president of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. "He epitomizes the standards and professionalism that the award is based on."

Ingersoll has held the dean's chair since 2009; before that he chaired the department of human services at the University of Virginia. His other activities in the field include serving as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Athletic Training, and a past presidency of the NATA Research and Education Foundation,
