Central Michigan University's College of Education and Human Services has a new leader in Betty Kirby.
Kirby, associate professor and chair of the department of educational leadership, now will help lead five departments as the associate dean of the college. She started Nov. 1 and will help oversee 185 faculty and staff in thirteen educational centers.
Her other duties include supporting accreditation, assessment, curriculum, budgeting, planning, program development, scholarships and grant development.
"I am honored to accept this new role in the College of Education and Human Services," Kirby says. "I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the dynamic faculty, staff and students within each department and throughout the college."
Her background includes two decades of experience in curriculum development, and more than a decade of administration within the K-12 public school system, including having served as an elementary and high school principal.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Drake University and a master's degree and doctorate from Central Michigan University.
