CMU appoints new VP of research

Central Michigan University has a new VP for research and sponsored programs, John McGrath.

McGrath comes to CMU from the National Science Foundation, where he has been the director of chemical, bioengineering, environmental and transport systems. He'll start in Mount Pleasant Aug. 16, says CMU executive VP and provost Gary Shapiro.

"Dr. McGrath has the experience as an active researcher, principle grant investigator and as an administrator which will prove invaluable as he provides leadership in helping Central Michigan University move forward in the area of research," says Shapiro.

McGrath's other credits include serving as an ex-officio member of the NIH National Advisory Council for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, and as a professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona.
