Winford Engineering to build new headquarters in mid-Michigan

Computer engineering firm Winford Engineering of Bay City will be building a new headquarters nearby, in Williams Township.

The announcement was made after the township's board approved a tax exemption for the company, which will be for 50 percent of property tax over 12 years.

The new site, measuring about four and a half acres, is already under construction. A new 6,000-square-foot building will be added to the site and include office space, production and warehouse space, as well as space for shipping and receiving. Winford is owned by brothers John and Ben Bright, who previously have run the business out of their personal property, but found it was time to expand.

"We are really excited to see construction start soon," says Ben Bright. "We are busting at the seams here."

Winford, which was founded in 1999, plans to move into its new location by the end of the year. Along with the move comes expansion of the company's product lines, and additional hiring of employees will take place. It manufactures electrical connection equipment, control modules, and custom circuitry.
