This summer saw the grand opening on an expansion at
TMI Climate Solutions in Genesee County, which should be a big boost for local employment.
TMI cut the ribbon on a 50,000-square-foot expansion at its Grand Blanc Township facility, which was about a $6.2 million investment and will mean the company will add 30 to 50 new jobs in the next three years.
The reason for the growth is the air and hydronic systems manufacturer's expansion into new markets like health care, education, laboratories and large commercial and government facilities. TMI, a subsidiary of MiTek Industries, started out supplying the automotive industry.
Part of the expansion was to add new, larger equipment to handle the new demands.
"TMI is a great example of a local company continuing to invest in Genesee County," says Tim Herman, CEO, Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce. "The fact that the company is adding jobs as it expands shows that this region can support business growth."
