St. Mary's Health to host bi-weekly clinic at Delta Ricker Center

If you're in Buena Vista on the first and third Wednesday of each month, don't miss the opportunity of attending a free St. Mary's Health clinic that will be held in the Delta Ricker Center.

The clinic will include a focus topic that will change each clinic regarding health concerns ranging from prostate cancer to depression. At each clinic, a qualified health professional will host an educational session on the focus topic and relevant screenings or risk assessments will be offered.

The whole idea behind the clinics is prevention and early detection, a fairly recent shift in the approach to healthcare. The clinics will also engage individuals to be more involved in their health and empowers them to make informed decisions.

"Delta College Ricker Center is pleased to host these clinics," says Teresa Stitt, associate dean of community development. "They are free and open to the public, and I hope everyone in the community takes advantage of them."

In addition to the focus topics, uninsured individuals can seek consultations regarding acute and chronic illnesses. With the cooperation of Synergy Medical Education Alliance, residents will conduct non-invasive assessments and prescribe needed medication. Individuals are then able to fill the approved prescriptions through the pharmacy at the GreenHouse Center of HOPE. Community Health Navigators will also assist individuals in applying for the Saginaw Health Plan or other services for which they may qualify. The goal is to connect individuals with Primary Care Providers and Community Resources that will aid them in their journey toward wellness.

The Delta College Ricker Center is located at 1925 South Outer Drive in Buena Vista.
