What's in a name? Well, for a hospital with the reputation like Alma's Gratiot Medical Center, not much. Despite having the center's name recently changed to
MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot, the hospital will still be offering up the same great services and treatment.
The name change, however, does help increase awareness about the center's affiliation with MidMichigan Health.
"We feel that this new name best reflects that we are an integral part of MidMichigan Health," says Mark Bush, president and CEO of MidMichigan Medical Center–Gratiot. "Moving ahead with a single brand identity will make it easier for patients to identify any MidMichigan affiliate, service or health care resource. Looking forward, we will continue to enhance and expand our programs and services to meet the health care needs of our patients while continuing to deliver excellent patient care."
The Medical Center began its partnership with MidMichigan Health in 2000, when it joined MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland in forming MidMichigan Gratiot Cancer Center in Alma. The partnership helped pave the way for the Medical Center to become a full MidMichigan Health affiliate in 2005.
Since the affiliation, the medical center completed a $56 million construction project, which added over 180,000 square feet of space, including a new ER.
MidMichigan Health is a non-profit health system that covers a 12-county region at medical centers in Alma, Clare, Gladwin and Midland and outpatient facilities.
