A national home health care and hospice company has opened an office in Saginaw, which is available to serve the Great Lakes Bay region.
Avalon Hospice is a branch of Gentiva Health Services, and has brought several new employees to Saginaw to its location at 5310 Hampton.
"We’re pleased to announce the expansion of our hospice service to now include Bay and Midland counties through our new office located in Saginaw," says Jay Littleton, executive director of Avalon.
Littleton, himself a registered nurse, has been in health care for more than 14 years, and says what Avalon offers is comfort for both patients and family.
"It is difficult when a loved one has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness," says Littleton. "So our company’s hospice care is centered on the entire family. We focus on helping the individual make the most of each day, while offering the family all the support they need."
Avalon provides services including home medical equipment and medications, pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, and a bereavement program.
