New tenants can take advantage of openings at tax-free medical technology center

Flint will be home to a new Renaissance Zone centered on developing medical technology businesses soon.

The Great Lakes Medical Technology Center is now a Renaissance Zone, which means businesses in the center will benefit from abatements on the Michigan Business Tax as well as real and personal property taxes.

The abatements will be in place for up to the next 15 years under the Renaissance Zone designation. The 1-million-square-foot center is a Class A facility that currently houses Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy and the Insight Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroscience.

Local government and development officials also are pledging their support to tenants in the center, with the cooperation and involvement of Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy and IINN.

"These two firms offer competitive subtenant options for companies to join in the development and introduction of medical technology solutions," says Tim Herman, CEO of the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce.

There is currently 700,000 square feet of space available in the Great Lakes Medical Technology Center.

Anyone interested in pursuing the opportunity, or for more information, can do so via email.
