Alma College students will soon have the chance to study in China under an exchange program backed by the Osgood Center for International Studies in Washington, D.C.
The college and the center signed a formal agreement to develop a Chinese exchange program and learning opportunities, which might include partnerships with universities in China, and cooperatively-developed courses.
"Our goals for this partnership are to increase the number of international students at Alma and to strengthen teaching and educational opportunities for our faculty and students in China," says Alma president Jeff Abernathy.
Abernathy says the new program comes at a time when understanding global issues and economies is increasingly central to people in every field.
"In today's global economy, it is vitally important for our students to have opportunities to interact with individuals from different cultures and perspectives. Osgood, with its experience developing and marketing cultural education programs, will help us facilitate these new opportunities," says Abernathy.
The Osgood Center also will offer Alma students annual leadership, business and foreign policy conferences.
