The registration deadline is fast approaching for hockey teams who want to strap on the blades and take part in the
Oakland Edge Adult Hockey Tournament.
"We've had teams as far away as Chicago asking about the tournament and wanting to know how to sign-up," said Ed Joss, the executive director of the tournament. "This was the only tournament they had seen that had a skills competition for the players. They thought that was kind of neat."
The Oakland Edge is set for April 3-5 at the
Onyx-Rochester Ice Arena and guarantees teams a minimum of three games and a maximum five game. Winners receive individual awards and there is one for the . It is open to men age 30 and older and will be broken into divisions depending on skill. There is also a women's division open to players age 21 and older.
Registration for the Oakland Edge is $700 per team and the deadline to register is March 9.
All participants will receive a tournament T-shirt and puck.
The tournament will also feature a skills competition, which will test the tops players from each team in such events as fastest skater, hardest shot and most accurate shot. Individual and team trophies will be awarded for the winners.
