If you're going to hit up Hamtramck, and you're lookin' to experience something Hamtramck, you go to get Polish food, you stop by Pope Park, maybe take a spin around St. Florian's once or twice, and you grab a drink at the Whiskey in the Jar. Of course it's a bar. It's the bar. And when you picture a bar in your head, you're probably picturing this bar. Everyone here is a friend; even if they don't know you you're still a friend. But not in the "Cheer's" way. This is a lot more real and there is a distinct smell of spilled beer.

There are stickers and pictures and notes of inside jokes plastered across the booze wall. If it's not busy the bartender will serve you drinks in between conversations with the bar gang (whomever that may be). There's a pool table and a big screen TV for sports. There is a smaller TV behind that bar that, during the day, is tuned to that channel with the weird Japanese game shows.

The only downfall is the jukebox is electronic. It's good in some ways; there are over a billion songs on it. But there is something about a quarter-per-song, old school flip, the pages jukebox.
