Social Service: Jobs Landed

I am part of a very innovative, professional team at the Ferndale Career Center. We help individuals apply for unemployment, successfully utilize government funded programs and provide them with the most current job market and employment trends and resources. We work with wonderful people in the community from all ages and backgrounds. I specifically work with clients referred to us from DHS who are on cash assistance. It is a very rewarding career. Nothing feels better than helping someone else in one of the most confusing and sometimes life-changing periods in their lives.

I spend a lot of time doing field work in Wayne county, most commonly inner-city Detroit.  I'm out doing Court hearings, Home visits, IEP's, Home Assessments, etc.  I also am in charge of my own caseload, which entails making sure all paperwork is up to date, all medical and emotional needs of my clients are being met, and birth parents are being referred to parenting classes, substance abuse classes, and legal aide.
