After losing my position with an Ann Arbor company and being in sales for several years, I was approached by a Farmers District Manager to become an Insurance Agent with the idea of starting my own Agency. At Farmers, you're in business for yourself - but not by yourself. You have freedom as an entrepreneur, but can lean on the strength of one of the world's most established group of insurance companies. You also have help from a local district manager and corporate personnel. Farmers provides continual support in technology, customer service, marketing and education. From Auto, Homeowners, Life and Business Insurance, I appreciate being able to give and assist my customers with what they want and - more important - what they need for their current situations and their future dreams.

As a Health and Benefits Consultant the main function of my job is to analyze and suggest insurance options and alternatives to our clients based on their specific wants and needs. Although Aon is a global corporation, the Southfield Health and Benefits office consists of only eight individuals. Working with such a small group has given me the opportunity to get one-on-one attention from experts in the field and expand my knowledge of the industry immensely. My favorite part about working as a consultant is the constant interaction I have with clients and the ability to assist them in the often confusing and ever-changing world of employee benefits.

My job is to assist my clients and prospects in finding the best insurance coverage for the best price.  I specialize in the insurance needs of attorneys, business owners and other professionals.  We also write personal insurance (home, auto, etc.), life/health/disability insurance, professional liability insurance and any other insurance needs our clients may have.

Citizens Insurance is owned by Hanover Insurance, which was just voted one of the best companies to work for by the Boston Globe. I am one of 7 underwriters on my team. We primarily take calls from our partners agents, the ones who write the most and best business. We have to approve, deny, or "tweek" risks based on various eligibility factors. Although that is the main part of my job, on an average day I wear many hats. My department is set up like a call center, and I handle escalated issues from both agents and insureds. These issues can be anywhere from underwriting, billing, processing, or customer service. I am given a lot of autonomy in decision making, and I take ownership in what my team does. Citizens is a great company, with a great training program, and lots of opportunity for growth and development. We just hired 4 new team members, and are always looking for talent.

I am proud to be a Commercial Insurance specialist at Allied Insurance Managers.  I found this position by being patient and developing a job searching strategy following the downturn in the automotive industry.  Working with Metro area businesses, it is noticeable that the economy is turning around leaving the Detroit Metro area with a lot of opportunity to those that are determined to be successful.
