Though the state of Michigan may rank in the bottom 10 states for gay couples, Pleasant Ridge made the top 10 list nationwide.

"The surprise ranking is based on 2010 U.S. Census Bureau data analyzed by the Williams Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, which measured same-sex couples as a portion of the population in individual communities.
In Pleasant Ridge there are 59.55 same-sex couples for every 1,000 households in the leafy upscale city with a total population of 2,526 people.
That makes Pleasant Ridge the top city for such couples in the state, followed by Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Ypsilanti and Royal Oak."
