Lynne Golodner doesn’t believe in the status quo.
Founder and Chief Creative Officer for the boutique public relations firm Your People, Golodner has grown her company from the comfort of her Huntington Woods home, recently hiring two new team members and nearly doubling her staff size in just one year.
The hires reflect Your People’s growth, expanding its public relations services to include business messaging development and marketing. Golodner routinely performs at speaking engagements and will soon launch Message Meaning Purpose, a quarterly event series that covers culture, marketing, and more.
She’s even started a podcast, too. The Make Meaning Podcast launched in June 2018.
"I’m the sort of person that doesn’t follow the rules," Golodner says.
"In communications, you have to take chances. Just because things have been done a certain way for a long time, it doesn’t mean it has to be that way. You have to upset the apple cart."
Golodner and her Your People team believe in storytelling-based marketing. The firm works with clients to help articulate who they are and what they stand for. In doing so, she says, the clients and their team members become their own brand ambassadors.
In growing Your People, Golodner decided it was time to transition from "Jack-and-Jill-of-all-trades" team members to those with marked expertise. Digital Marketing Specialist Soojin Kim and Vice President of Operations & Strategy are examples as such.
While their client base is growing, Your People also has clients that have been with the company for six and seven years, which is also unusual for the publicity business, Golodner says.
"We’re always looking for ways we can stand outside of the box," she says.
"Even though we’ve never really marketed ourselves, with the new VP, we’re looking to stand out."
