Sterling Heights

It may not have been around as long as some Metro Detroit cities, but in roughly 50 years Sterling Heights (incorporated in 1968) has really come into its own. Not only is it Michigan's fourth largest city, it's been ranked in the top 20 in Money Magazine's list of "Best Small Cities."

Nestled East of Troy and north of Warren and approximately 23 miles from Detroit, the city is known for its safe neighborhoods, diverse business landscape, growing Chaldean and Asian communities, and signature outdoor attractions. First and foremost of those is the Clinton River, which provides endless opportunities to boat, kayak and fish. Freedom Trail also runs through Sterling Heights with a hike, bike, and rollerblade path that connects over 20 miles of Macomb County Metro Parks.

Sterling Heights is the focus of the current On the Ground series as Metromode is partnering with the City of Sterling Heights and a coalition of community stakeholders to identify and capture the story of talent, investment, innovation and emerging assets that are shaping the future of Sterling Heights.
