Ferndaler Angela Duncan has a cool job: she's an artist at cheap and cheerful grocer
Trader Joe's. That means she handwrites every sign and label that appears in the store.
She likes things laid back. Her pick for breakfast couldn't be less pretentious: the
Fly Trap Diner. She goes for the gingerbread waffles and "the incredible homemade jam."
She likes to start the weekend with a Red Stripe at the
Emory, the kind of place where everyone just seems to end up at one point or another. "What I love about the Emory is, even if my friends and I don't make plans, we'll always run into each other there." She also likes to grab a drink at
Danny's Irish Pub.
For coffee, she heads to the
Java Hutt. "It's quiet, just a really great place to sit and chill out," Angela says.
Is there anywhere she won't go? "Not really. I'll even go to the
Bosco." The trendy bar "is not my vibe, but I'll go with a group of people."
For shopping, she scores her best vintage pieces at
Regeneration. Duncan also likes
Naka, especially the handmade goods from local and national vendors, which she calls "really high-quality, awesome stuff."
